GPSR Regulations and Estori
Hello lovely readers,
We have unfortunate news for our EU & NI customers.
The short story is: we are no longer able to sell to countries within the European Union, and Northern Ireland. You can still purchase from the UK.
If for any reason one comes through we will have to refund and cancel the order. See the bottom of this page for a full list of countries affected.
The long story is: new General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR) regulations are replacing older safety regulations to ensure that all sales placed in the EU meet modern safety standards on 13th December.
Among other things, they will require us to appoint an Authorised Representative based in the EU/NI to act as our compliance contact and ensure the products meet Eu requirements.
That's fair and good (of course we all want our products to be safe), and we already have a lot of the safety and compliance checks in place and we agree with the sentiment of wanting safe products and transparent procedures.
However, the main issue is that we do not currently have the resources or means to fulfil the GPSR requirement of appointing an Authorised Representative based in the EU/NI. Additionally, if we break this law, the fines are large too large for a small businesses like ours to justify. So we've unfortunately decided to stop trading in Europe and Northern Ireland.
A word from Jac
I have come to know many of our European customers well, and I am devastated that I will no longer be able to share the joy of new launches and special pieces with you.
If you have any friends or family in the UK, perhaps you can ask them to order for you, and you can collect goodies from them the next time you meet.
I hope there will be a change of regulation, but I'm sure you know that these things can take a very long time. I will of course let you know of any updates as soon as I catch wind of them.
For anyone reading who has their own small business or knows a business owner: here is an article that I found useful from Folksy, who have laid it all out very clearly. It’s all quite unclear with a poor amount of information so hopefully this can help.
