I cannot emphasize enough how much I love this brand. The first store I’ve found that offers gorgeous, yet subtle, bookish jewelry. I ordered the 18K gold Starling Ring in December of 2024. I didn’t receive it until 3/2025. Which is totally fine - happy to wait for skilled craftsmanship. I wore it twice and all the gold is peeling off. It is no longer wearable. This ring is so tiny and thin, I wrongfully assumed it was made of 18K gold. Or at least gold plated over brass. It’s neither. This is a gumball machine ring.
Jennifer, I’m genuinely sorry to hear what happened with your ring. To clarify: the ring is made from 18k Vermeil, i.e. a thick 2.5-micron layer of real gold over solid 925 sterling silver - it’s definitely not brass. The size and band thickness are both listed on the product page so you’d know how big to expect it. You made a pre-order, and the March delivery timeline was clearly stated from the start. I also sent email updates along the way. Yes, it's a long time to wait but I warned this since there were so many preorders. That said, I completely hear your disappointment - that is some INSANE tarnishing. This has genuinely never happened with any of the rings I tested, which went through months of sampling. I’ve never seen photos like the ones you shared, from other customers. Tarnishing happens with time, but not this badly after just TWO wears, so I’m honestly baffled by that. Not sure what happened.
